Was wondering if anyone was a fan of classic radio jingles and airchecks? I'm talking mostly of top 40 and rock radio stations from the Fifties through the Seventies? It's definitely different from the way radio is now. Those of you younger Zoners who have never heard this kind of thing might enjoy this website.

You'll need some version of Realplayer on your system to listen to the streaming files, and if you have a firewall on your system, disable it else the streams won't play. But there you can certainly get a very wide sampling of what I'm talking about here.

Yes, I do. There's also other sites but you have to buy them. I did a google search and got several sites including the one mentioned above.

I know of some radio collectors that collect this stuff. If you are interested, e-m ail me and I'll send you some links.

Well, I don't really have any to trade in any format. I'd love to get hold of some on CD or cassette, though.

Some will let you buy the cassettes or cd's. Others still will let you send them blank cassettes and/or CD's, and send a lil cash for return postage, and they will record some for you and send them back to you. I have a few classic airchecks from the 70's. A Super CFL aircheck from Big Ron OBryan from 7/15/1975 I think is the date/year. I also have some from WRQX "Q107" out of Washington DC (Some mono, some Stereo), and a 120-minute two cd set of Michael Pakosi and Jo Bonidonna from WMMR from 12/79.
Super CFL was Top40 at this time and WMMR was AOR. E-mail me if you'd like to get in contact with my buddieds, or I about classic airchecks. John

Gee, I was just waiting for someone to post a topic on this subject. About Reelradio, the site has just switched to a subscription-only format. But there is still a wealth of airchecks at airchexx.com or even radiotimeline.com. There is a lot of Super CFL material on there, plus some rarities like a Chicago FM radio composite featuring airchecks from 8 stations. Does anyone have airchecks from the old WDAI, WLS-FM, WJJD-AM/FM, or WIND? Who has them, and for what price?

Anybody remember the Crusin series? These were airchecks on vinyl from stations in the 50's and 60's. I have some stuff from Baltimore am radio on reel-to-reel tape somewhere.

I don't know if the Broadcasting Museum in New York City has anything like this on their website or not. You also might find some of this on the National Radio Club website. They do a lot with am and fm dx-ing, but you never know.
